Professor Chia-Hong Drapal Liao, a well-known violinist, conductor, who holds the Konzertfach-Diplom, and Magister atrim, from Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, is now the Dean of College of Music and a full-time professor of music at the National Taiwan Normal University.

Professor Liao has performed and instructed master classes around the world. He was invited as a violin soloist and conductor by Wien Kammerphilharmonie (Austria), San Diego Symphony (the U. S.), Oradea Philharmonic Orchestra (Romania), Satu Mare Philharmonic Orchestra (Romania), Romanian Radio Chamber Orchestra (Romania), Sonora Philharmonic Orchestra (Mexico) and Orchestra del Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia (Rome). At the flag-raising ceremony on New Year’s Day for the centennial anniversary of Taiwan, he was honored to be invited to conduct a 200-member mega orchestra, which was jointly formed by eight major symphony orchestras in Taiwan.

Professor Liao emphasizes the importance and role of orchestras in music education. Since his return from Austria, he has founded Pro Arte Music Production, Taiwan Pro Arte Orchestra and Andersen Philharmonic Soloists. In addition to being devoted to promoting exquisite music art and diverse forms of performances, he has also cultivated many talented young artists during these years.
