Overview<\/span><\/h2>
In response to the global trend, the overall transformation plan of National Taiwan Normal University toward cultural and artistic formation, and the fusion of tradition and innovation, the Department of Music (founded in June 1946), the Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology (August 2002), the Graduate Institute of Performing Arts (August 2005) and the Music Digital Archive Center (September 2004) were integrated into the College of Music in August 2007, with new programs including the Digital Video and Audio Program and the Undergraduate Program of Performing Arts.<\/span><\/h5>
The Department of Music offers bachelor, master and doctoral degrees and is dedicated to the cultivation of performing and creative artists, researchers and educators. The Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology consists of two divisions, \u201cResearch and Heritage\u201d and \u201cMultimedia Applications\u201d with special focus on music research, dissemination of traditional music, digital archiving and applied music. The Graduate Institute of Performing Arts trains professional personnel in theater performance and arts administration and management with the focus on music.<\/span><\/h5>

Facilities<\/span><\/h2>
The College of Music Library has a rich collection of audio-visual data, books and journals, including more than 10,000 valuable volumes, which came as a gift from various internationally renowned professors and music scholars. These resources greatly enhance the research capacity of both the faculty and students.<\/span><\/h5>
Hardware at the College includes multimedia classrooms, piano rooms and the recital hall in the Department of Music. More well-equipped classrooms, piano rooms, and the Chih-yin Theater located in the General Education Building as well as the College Building are within easy access. Some of the classes are conducted in the NTNU Auditorium, which is a third-level national monument.<\/span><\/h5>
The College of Music is equipped with a complete set of instruments for performance and instruction, including a number of Steinway pianos, digital pianos, grand pianos, electric pianos as well as other instruments.<\/span><\/h5>
Since 1992, the College publishes The Journal of Music Research, which serves as a platform for intercollegiate and international academic exchanges. In 2018, the Journal was selected to be included in the databank, Scopus.<\/span><\/h5>

Academic Activities<\/span><\/h2>
Major academic activities organized by the College include but are not limited to the following:<\/span><\/h5>
1. international conferences which encourage academic exchanges,<\/span><\/h5>
2. guest lectures and master classes conducted by internationally renowned professors and artists,<\/span><\/h5>
3. the publication of The Journal of Music Research, and<\/span><\/h5>
4. NTNU Music Festival, an annual event that showcases the talents of both faculty and students.<\/span><\/h5>
